Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe

There is a great benefit to operating a seminary that is culturally diverse. Not only are we able to learn more about other cultures, but we get to celebrate more as well!  The diversity of the seminarians are only a reflection of the variety of races and cultures of the people who live in the United States. Currently, 14 of the seminarians are originally from other countries, including:  Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Kenya, Turkey, and Vietnam.  They are studying for these dioceses in the United States, with the hope of one day serving as a priest in the U.S.

Because of the number of seminarians from Latin America, today’s feast, Our Lady of Guadalupe, is particularly special.  They prepared a beautiful shrine to Mary in the Basilica with roses and other decorations, and provided beautiful music and songs to accompany the Eucharistic celebration.

The festivities continue this afternoon when the Hispanic seminarians offer a presentation entitled, “Guadalupe: Evangelizer of the Americas.” This presentation will recount the apparitions and explain the meaning of the symbols in the image of Our Lady.
