Let Us Give Thanks

Thanksgiving week at the monastery is a special time for the community for several reasons.  It is a time when the “monks on mission” return home.  The monks on mission are our confreres who are serving in parishes throughout the midwest.  Currently, there are ten monks on mission, and they will return to join us for the community meetings and festivities.  Secondly, during Thanksgiving week, we honor and recognize our jubilarians.  This year we have seven jubilarians- five of whom are celebrating 50 years of priesthood, one celebrating 25 years of priesthood, and another celebrating 25 years of monastic profession.  The events conclude with a Day of Recollection from Friday Vespers until Vespers I of the 1st Sunday of Advent.  The time of silence, prayer, and reflection allows the monks time to prepare properly for the great liturgical season of Advent.
