A Message From Fr. Paul

The Abbey Guest Center extends hospitality to various retreat groups and individuals throughout the year. In keeping with our Benedictine tradition, Conception Abbey’s Guest Center offers our guests the gift of peace through prayer, silence, and a beautiful and rural location. Our mission is to lead men and women closer to Jesus Christ and share the wisdom and spirituality of the Benedictine way of life. I’m convinced that Benedictine spirituality has much to offer our world today. The Benedictine way of life is not drastically different from ordinary Christian life, but is rather a specific, intentional way of living out the Gospel message and responding to the invitation to follow Jesus. I invite you to attend one of our Encountering Christ silent retreats where you will rediscover the power of the liturgy, the Sacraments, silence, and prayer with Sacred Scripture.

Encountering Christ Retreats

The desire of the human heart and need of today’s Catholic is for:

  • Encounter – A profound and personal encounter with Jesus Christ.
  • Silence A need for silence and a break from the noise and stimuli of the busyness of daily life and the modern tech-heavy world.
  • Guidance A need for instructions of how to pray, specifically in terms of personal prayer, lectio divina, and mental prayer.
  • Healing – The opportunity for radical honesty, healing, and forgiveness, especially in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
  • Environment – A sacred and beautiful space or environment where a person can pray, encounter God, and experience silence, freed from the distractions and demands of day-to-day life.
  • Community – A place of retreat where they can feel a sense of community, belonging, and support.
