A Christmas Message from Abbot Benedict

“The angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David s savior has been born for you who is Christ the Lord.’” Luke 2:10-101

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Christmas Scene. As we celebrate the birth of the Christ-child, let us understand these words of the angel to the shepherds as words addressed to us as well. Let us also rejoice in this “good news” that Jesus Christ came into the world to deliver it from sin and darkness and all sorrows. On this Christmas Day, invite the newborn Savior into your hearts; let him be born in you as he was born in Bethlehem so many years ago, and pray that he will transform you in his grace in the coming year.

Know of the daily prayers of the monks of Conception Abbey for you, especially during this most blessed season of Christmas. May this time of joy and celebration bring you peace and good health.

In Christ,

Abbot Benedict Neenan, OSB
