Abbey Trails to celebrate anniversary in person

Conception, Mo. – The monks of Conception Abbey look forward to celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Abbey Trails 5K Run / 2-Mile Walk & Health Fair in person on Saturday, May 7, 2022.

“We enjoy hosting participants from the region to promote health and wellness, and we have some exciting things planned for the 2022 event to celebrate our 25th anniversary,” said Trish Wiederholt, event coordinator. “Most especially, we look forward to hosting this year’s event in person again!”

In addition to celebrating our 25th in-person event, we have added a virtual component this year after seeing the 2021 virtual event succeed. Those who are unable to attend in person on May 7 but still want to participate, not compete, can register to walk or run virtually. More details are below.

In-Person Event
The 5K race takes runners out and back on a scenic paved road north of Conception Abbey. Participants in the 2-Mile Walk will estimate their time of completion of the course winding through the beautiful Abbey grounds. Chip timing is provided for both the run and walk by Morgan Sports.

John Coffey, the voice of the Northwest Bearcats and KXCV-KRNW radio will serve as emcee at the awards ceremony and health fair. The health fair will include brunch along with area vendors that provide services and products related to lifelong health and wellness.

Entry fees begin with the early bird price at $20 and increase as the event gets closer. Registration fees include a free t-shirt, brunch, and access to the health fair after the race. Brunch for non-participants will cost $5. Participants can register online at https://www.conceptionabbey.org/abbeytrails. Race day registration and packets will be available at the Welcome Center from 7:30-8:45 a.m. on the day of the race, and the race will kick off at 9 a.m.

A corporate challenge is open to all area businesses and organizations. Businesses can gather coworkers and compete for the three traveling trophies for the most participants from one business, the fastest average time in the 5K run, and the closest average time in the 2-mile walk.

Individual awards are given for first and second place, male and female, in each age group. The top overall male and female finishers will also receive awards in the 5K run, and each participant is eligible for the various door prizes, which include gift certificates to local businesses and restaurants.

Virtual Participation
You may complete your walk or run wherever you are between May 1-7. Your registration fees will provide you with a t-shirt and participation medal, which will be mailed or arranged for pick-up. Virtual registration begins at $25. Register and learn more at www.conceptionabbey.org/abbeytrails.
