Upcoming Monastic Experience Retreats
Digital Discernment: Virtual Monastic Experience // October 9-11, 2020
Are you interested in learning more about monastic life at Conception Abbey?
Join us online for a three-day digital experience where you will learn about monastic prayer, monastic vows, and community living.
The experience will include a digital tour, meeting with some of the monks, tips on prayer and discernment, free resources, and opportunities to connect with the vocation director one on one.
This is for single men, ages 18-35, interested in religious life. Please contact Fr. Etienne Huard, OSB at (660) 944-2857 or monks@conception.edu for more information or to register.
If you have spent time in prayer asking God what He desires for your life, it might be time to take that step to visit our community.
The Gospels tell us Jesus was driven by the Holy Spirit into the desert in preparation for his mission. Come experience our way of life by living it for the weekend.
Here’s why:
What the Benedictine monks of Conception Abbey have is a treasure that rust will not corrupt nor moth devour. These men lead a balanced life under an abbot and according to the Rule of St. Benedict, a practical application of the Gospel. They are called to seek out God in a radical way and in turn to be the light of Christ to the world.
Monks’ days are divided between prayer and work, study and holy leisure.
(Towels, sheets, and blankets are provided in the guest rooms.)
Attending a Monastic Experience does not mean you are going to become a monk, but you should be serious and open to what the Spirit has to tell you. If nothing else, we hope you can integrate some of our values and customs into your personal life.
