*Revised 01/08/21

Conception Abbey continues to take extra precautions. We will remain temporarily closed to the general public at this time. Please check the website regularly for updates, as situations may change quickly due to the nature of this pandemic.

    • The Basilica and all campus buildings remain closed to the public until further notice.
    • We will continue to offer Mass and prayer via livestream, which can be found at conceptionabbey.org/live/.
    • The Abbey Guest Center will begin to take individual and small-group retreatants in mid-February. All guests must contact the Abbey Guest Center (guests@conception.edu / 660.944.2809), must be registered, and go through a Covid-screening process before visiting. We will not offer tours and day visits at this time.
    • The Gift Shop remains closed.

There are many ways in which the monastic and seminary communities and their missions will continue through these uncertain times. The monks will still gather for their primary vocation of prayer six times a day in the Abbey Basilica. Daily Mass, Lauds, Vespers, and Compline will be streamed online at www.conceptionabbey.org/live.

We continue to share the Christian faith through the creation and distribution of Christian greeting cards, and Catholic gifts from The Printery House at Conception through online orders, which can be made by visiting www.printeryhouse.org or over the phone at 1-800-322-2737.

Abbot Benedict Neenan, OSB, in an address to the entire Conception community, spoke of this time as an opportunity to focus on the constants in our lives. “The constant values to be preserved and expressed are unity of identity and purpose; respect for the life, safety and health of one another and service to Christ and his Church in the ministries we believe he has commissioned us to carry out.”

Our prayers are with all those affected by this pandemic and with the communities and businesses around the world taking extreme measures to slow the spread of the virus. We want to thank all of our friends and benefactors whose prayers and support allow the continuation of our work.
