Conception Seminary College's May Day has a tradition of starting off the day with pranks played by the seminarians, and this year was no different. It seems some of the seminarians from the Diocese of Wichita created a web of yarn in our St. Maur Hall, the main academic building for the seminary college. On Friday, May 4th some of the Conception's faculty, staff, seminarians, monks and employees processed out to the Blessed Virgin Shrine at the south boundary line of the Monastery on Maryknoll. The shrine, or grotto, was recently repaired by seminarians along with Br. Placid. This remodel project, headed up by Wichita seminarian Kyle Dugan, was started by former seminarian, Alan Brown, who passed away while studying here at Conception in 2009. This issue is a special four-page newsletter, which includes an informative and stirring article about daily living the pro-life cause, another article about why the pro-life cause is the #1 social justice cause, and an inspirational photo collage surrounded by quotes from CSC students who walked in the March for Life!

Conception Seminary Wins the Mundelein Seminary Basketball Tournament
January 28-29, 2012
Conception Seminary College competed in the annual Mundelein Seminary Basketball Tournament, defeating Sacred Heart Seminary in the championship game in order to bring the title back to Missouri. Several college and theological seminaries play in the tournament, which proves to be a enjoyable opportunity for athletic competition and fraternity among the seminarians. Congratulations, CSC, we are proud of you!

Today we celebrate the co-patrons of our monastery. In our abbey church, the ceiling vaults are full of angels keeping watchful protection of all who pass through.
The CSC students conducted a pro-life t-shirt contest. Students were encouraged to send in their designs that would be voted on. Sergio Esquivel won this year contest. Congrats! Blessed Mary, mother of all unborn children, PRAY FOR US.

The Conception Seminary College Library hosted an open house today, Thursday, August 25th, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. The library staff provided homemade cherry limeades, homemade cookies, M & M's, and many other snacks while also hosting a drawing for prizes. The open house allowed seminarians a chance to become more familiar with the library staff and the various tools the library has to offer the student body. A special thank you to the library staff for hosting this delicious and informative event!

Conception Monks and Seminarians cleaned up after a series of storms bringing severe winds, rain, and hail hit campus on Thursday, August 18th. The damages included numerous broken trees and branches, broken windows in the dormitories, and minor hail damage and dents. Perhaps the worst damage incurred was to the local farmers and their crops. Fortunately there were no injuries. We are grateful to the seminarians for their help in the large clean up effort on Friday.
All-powerful and ever-living God, you raised the sinless Virgin Mary, mother of your Son, body and soul to the glory of heaven. May we see heaven as our final goal and come to share her glory. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
