ABBOT GREGORY POLAN will have an article in the July-August issue of The Bible Today which is dedicated to the memory of Pope John Paul. The article is entitled, “The Quest for Unity among all God’s Children: Pope John Paul in the footsteps of Saints Peter and Paul.”

FATHER BENEDICT NEENAN, president-rector, and his sister Kitty Steed gave a presentation March 4 for a “First Friday Retreat” at Visitation Parish in Kansas City, Mo. The pair led a reflection on the spiritual meaning of time, prompted by the stained glass windows of the church that feature the sun and the moon.
On March 30, Father Benedict was a panelist in a presentation on pre-theology training at the National Catholic Education Association Seminary Division convention in Philadelphia. He gave a short talk on the history of pre-theology in the Program of Priestly Formation and pre-theology programs at college seminaries.
Father Benedict celebrated Mass April 6 with the Kansas City, Mo. Serrans and delivered a talk on John Paul’s legacy to seminarians.

An article written by FATHER SAMUEL RUSSELL, dean of students, and FATHER XAVIER NACKE, director of spiritual formation, “Implementing the Growth Plan at Conception Seminary College,” appeared in the Winter 2004 issue of the Seminary Journal. The article explains the history, purpose and tools of Conception’s innovative program which guides the formation of each seminarian.

BROTHER JUSTIN HERNANDEZ, professor of philosophy, participated March 16 in a panel discussion on science and religion at William Jewell College, Liberty, Mo.

A research article by Capuchin FATHER DUANE F. REINERT, director of counseling services, entitled “Spirituality, Self-Representations, and Attachment to Parents: A Longitudinal Study of Roman Catholic College Seminarians” appeared in the April issue (Vol. 49, No. 3) of Counseling & Values.
Father Duane has agreed to a request from newly appointed Counseling & Values editor, Dr. Christopher Sink, who was a visiting social science professor at Conception and former faculty member at nearby Northwest Missouri State University, to remain on the journal’s editorial review board for at least one year. Dr. Sink is now chair of the School Counseling and Psychology Department at Seattle Pacific University.

FATHER DAN MERZ’S article on the Eucharistic Prayer from the point of view of the presider is due to appear in Liturgical Ministry this summer. Father Merz will deliver talks on the liturgy to the clergy and lay leaders of the Diocese of Belize from July 31 to Aug. 10. He will also be conducting research toward his doctoral dissertation in Liturgy at the University of Notre Dame.
