Seminarians elect officers

Conception Seminary College students have elected officers for their student government, the Community Council.

Aaron Spexarth, a junior from the Diocese of Wichita, is president and Jake Clayton, a sophomore from the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph is vice president. Nathan Gohlke, a junior from the Diocese of Joliet, was named Community Council secretary and Kit Afable, a sophomore from the Archdiocese of Louisville is the treasurer. The officers will serve through the Fall 2003 semester.

Class representatives, which were elected at the beginning of the academic year and will serve through the Spring 2003 semester, are Andy Wickersham (Oklahoma City) representing pre-theologians; Dan Ekberg (Cheyenne), seniors; Tim Martinson (Cheyenne), juniors; Chris Ahlstrom (Marmion Abbey), sophomores; Justin Hartwell (Oklahoma City), freshmen; and representing members of the Language, Culture and Church program is Ruben Ortiz of the Diocese of Wichita.

The Community Council oversees committees governing various aspects of student life, including vocations, entertainment, social outreach, athletics and fine arts.

Other leadership positions appointed include Martinson as head waiter; Greg Dolan, a junior from the Diocese of Cheyenne, as master of ceremonies; Daniel Roa, a junior from the Diocese of Salina, as seminary sacristan; and Kerry Wakulich, a sophomore from the Diocese of Tulsa, as hospitality coordinator.
