On Dec. 14, 2002, Father Benedict Neenan, president-rector of Conception Seminary College, gave a preview presentation on the seminary’s Deacon Formation Program to the newest class of deacon candidates from the Diocese of Des Moines and their spouses. The candidates and their wives will take part in a program of theological studies at Conception over the next 31/2 years.

Father Donald Grabner, seminary professor, and Father Benedict on Jan. 17 provided continuing theological education training for religion teachers in the Kansas City-St. Joseph Catholic schools. Father Benedict conducted a workshop on U.S. Catholic Church history and Father Donald taught a course on world religions.

On Dec. 18, students of the Language, Culture and Church program, Richard Mendoza, Jesus Roa and Ruben Ortiz, and developmental English instructor Margaret Sokolowski made a presentation on the Christmas customs of Mexico and Venezuela at North Andrew High School. The group made presentations to the high school Spanish 1 and 2 classes, the 7th and 8th grade Spanish class and also to a kindergarten class.

Keith Jiron, director of admissions and recruitment, gave a daylong presentation on vocations to the Kansas City, Mo., Catholic grade school teachers for their ministry formation day in January.
