From the Oblate Director

Dear oblates and friends,

I am happy and humbled by Abbot Gregory’s appointment of me as Director of Oblates. St. Benedict says:

“All humility should be shown in addressing a guest on arrival or departure. By a bow of the head or by a complete prostration of the body, Christ is to be adored because he is indeed welcome in them” (RB 53).

Oblates of Conception Abbey are guests who have come to Conception Abbey, bringing a special presence of Christ to the monastic community, and have decided “to stay” among us as a special part of the Conception community. We grow in union in special ways: in our care for each other and in our daily union in prayer and the Eucharist. We are all guests in the Father’s House, striving to recognize and adore Christ in all His manifest grace and power.

I look forward to hearing from you and getting to know you better. The monastic community maintains a board of prayer intentions. Let us know your needs and dreams! As a brand new Director of Oblates I am also looking for your suggestions, and your prayers!
