Development developments

Father Adam Ryan, OSB and Cindy Staten participated in the Omaha Development Institute in June.  The weekend of July 14-15 Fr. Adam visited St. Augustin Parish in Des Moines, Iowa where Conception Abbey & Seminary is blessed with alumni, oblates, donors and friends.

In August, Fr. Adam and Fr. Allan Stetz, OSB went to Schuyler, Neb. for the biennial Benedictine Development Symposium, a gathering of development leaders of Benedictine monasteries of men and women in North America; featured keynote speakers were Abbot Primate Notker Wolf, OSB and Fr. Larry Snyder, Director of Catholic Charities, USA.

The second week of September, Fr. Adam attended the National Catholic Development Conference Convention in Phoenix, Ariz.

This fall members of the development staff are enrolled at the Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership, a subdivision of the Bloch School of Business of the University of Missouri at Kansas City.  In order to enhance the development department's contribution to the advancement of the life and work of the abbey and seminary, they are pursuing the following studies: Creating & Implementing the Annual Development Plan; Direct Marketing and Direct Mail in Fund Raising; and Prospect Research & Proposal Writing.

And the sweetest development of all: The Director of Communications, Jarrod Thome and his wife, Emily, joyfully announce the birth of twin daughters: Sophia Marie born 11:50 pm on July 30th and Olivia Grace born 1:37 am on July 31st.  Everyone thinks they're great.
