Personnel changes in Seminary, Development Office

Conception Abbey and Conception Seminary College saw significant changes in personnel over the summer.

Steven Rogers, a 1978 graduate of CSC, assumes the position of director of development and major and planned gifts. Rogers, a trial attorney from Texas, was a visiting professor in the seminary last year while on a sabbatical.

“I came back here for a two day retreat last August to brush up on my spirituality, and I’m still here,” Rogers said. “Undoubtedly I was a little rustier than I thought.”

Rogers has a 19-year-old son who is in formation with the Jesuits at Loyola University in New Orleans.

Rogers replaces Dan Madden, who resigned as development director but will remain on staff as director of communications.

Vince Casper, a 2001 graduate of CSC who has served as director of admissions and recruitment for the seminary for the past two years, has departed for a position as territory recruitment manager in the admissions office at Newman University in Wichita, Kan.

Brother Victor Schinstock has succeeded Casper as director of admissions.

Also in the seminary, Jeanette Schieber was appointed as registrar, replacing Velda Mattson, who retired after more than 30 years at CSC. Father Dennis McManus, diocesan priest of Mobile, Ala., will teach Latin and Liturgy and serve as chaplain to the pre-theologians. Father McManus has most recently taught at Georgetown University and worked at the John Paul II Cultural Center in Washington, D.C.

In Monastic appointments, Brother Jude Person returns from graduate school to take up teaching duties in the English Department, and Father Allan Stetz, former director of major and planned gifts, has been appointed pastor of St. Joseph parish in Parnell, Mo. He will continue assisting in the major and planned gifts office of the Development Office.
